Shipping and Receiving Warehouse Worker

This position is strongly focused on getting our customers’ products to them when they need it. It is the responsibility of our shipping and receiving warehouse worker to support our reliable and efficient shipping department and maintain our average 98.8% success rate of fulfilling our same day shipping policy. To help continue that history of success, this position performs a vast array of functions that may include receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing, and retrieving stock in the warehouse.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Unloading trucks and checking in merchandise.

  • Preparing orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling materials; packing boxes; placing orders in the shipping / receiving area.

  • Preparing product for USPS, UPS, FedEx, Spee-Dee, LTL, and other shipping providers.

  • Communicating with shipping vendors to obtain quotes and arrange for pickup or shipping of orders for the best rate.

  • Assisting in the manufacturing area when needed with the ability to read tape measures and solder copper pipe fittings.

  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and work stations neat and orderly, including organizing the warehouse and work areas for orderliness at all times.

  • Assisting in the cleaning, sweeping, dusting, and mopping of designated areas.

  • Sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to organizational standards.

  • Inspecting crates and other shipment containers before signing off on incoming shipment(s).

  • Maintaining inventory controls by collecting stock location orders, printing requests, recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed.

  • Assisting with physical inventorying of product warehoused.

 

Qualification requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.  with technical schooling preferred.

  • 1-2 years of previous warehouse experience preferred, including using standard equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, scales, stretch wrappers, etc.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, organization, time management, and mathematical skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills are a must.

  • Must be dependable and reliable.

  • Applicant must have inventory, equipment maintenance, data entry, and basic computer skills.

 

Physical demands and abilities

  • Regularly lift and / or move objects 10-50lbs.

  • Occasionally lift and / or move objects that weigh more than 50+ lbs.

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and utilize a ladder.

  • Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.

  • Job requires wearing clothing appropriate for all types of weather conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

 

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
